Roaring Run Slideshow

The beautiful Roaring Run area on the northwest flank of Botetourt County, Virginia, is a part of the Jefferson National Forest, which has designated this mountain jewel as both an Historic Site and a Recreation Area.

The focal point of the improved parking, picnic, and rest rooms area is a restored, early 1800s iron furnace.

The raucous stream that lends its name to the facility is flanked by peaks that rise to nearly 3,000 feet. In its approximately three-mile journey from its headwaters to its juncture with Craigs Creek, it drops nearly 1,000 feet.
